Velvet Bloom is a bit of a blend in my imagination of  orchid speckles and stamens, the heavy velvet weight of a magnolia petal, and the kind of perfume I'm always drawn to: strong and sweet with deep notes of musk, clove and patchouli underneath. Light at the edges, intense at the centre. It came about through a combination of scent and sound somehow, the way certain things just collide and become something visual.

I painted it qgite close — close enough to feel the texture of those petals, the way colour deepens towards the heart of the flower and then softens out to the palest lavender at the rim. There's a richness to it that I wanted to hold onto.

This piece is for spaces that feel considered — bedrooms, reading corners, hallways where you pause. Somewhere the depth of it can settle and do its work.
