Romantic Card Ideas for Valentine’s Day and Anniversaries

Love has always felt closely tied to nature for me. Flowers, especially roses, have a way of expressing emotion without saying a word. Their layers, curves, and colours carry a kind of quiet intensity that I often find myself returning to in my artwork.

The rose heart design featured in one of my recent greeting cards began as part of a broader exploration of floral symbolism and expressive colour. I was playing with the idea of shaping natural forms into something that visually echoed emotion — in this case, a heart formed from deep red roses. The result felt both bold and tender, which is often the balance I look for in my work.

Turning that artwork into a greeting card felt like a natural next step. I love the idea that something created through paint, texture, and experimentation in the studio can go on to become part of someone else’s story — tucked into a gift, sent through the post, or kept as a small keepsake.

Romantic cards aren’t just for Valentine’s Day. They can mark anniversaries, birthdays, or simple moments when words feel important. For me, they’re little pieces of art that travel — carrying feeling from one pair of hands to another.
